Porcelain Fused to Metals

PFM’s are composed of a metal framework in which porcelain is fused in a high temperature oven to give it the cosmetic appearance of natural teeth. The underlying metal fused with the porcelain provides stability and strength to the crown. We carefully design each coping and framework to provide superb fit, high strength and complete marginal seal. Benefits of Porcelain Fused to Metal:

  • Reliable Strength
  • Precise Fit
  • Biocompatibility (Noble and High Noble)
  • Custom-Made Contour, Shape, Texture, and Color
  • Exceptional Marginal Integrity
  • Natural Anatomy
  • Ideal for crowns & bridges used in conjunction with attachments and partial dentures
Porcelain Labial Margin (Ceramic Margin) is a popular technique to improve esthetics in the margin area. If the gingiva recedes, use of porcelain margin will eliminate any appearance of chalky or metallic substance at the gingival margins of the restoration. PFM Alloy Options (%'s vary):
  • White High Noble Alloy
  • Yellow High Noble Alloy
  • White Noble Alloy
  • Yellow Noble Alloy
  • Semi-Precious Alloy
  • Non-Precious Alloy
All alloys are manufactured in the U.S.A. IdentAlloy Certificate sticker is provided for all restorations in which Noble and High Noble alloys are used. There may be a very slight variation in percentage of alloy composition depending on manufacturer change. Prep Requirements:
  • Versatile, can be easily designed to fit any type of preparation
  • Ideal preparation for PFM’s is a chamfer margin preparation. If a porcelain labial margin is prescribed, then a shoulder margin preparation is required.

Full Casts

Full-cast restorations are the standard for long-term durability of posterior crowns. It is ideal for Crowns, Bridges, and Inlays/Onlays where there is limited occlusal room. Benefits of Full Cast:

  • Longevity
  • Unparalleled strength and durability
  • Superior bio-compatibility (N and HN)
  • Plaque resistance
  • Resistance to chip and crack
  • Over a century of clinical success

Full Cast Alloy Options (%'s Vary):
  • White High Noble Alloy
  • Yellow High Noble Alloy
  • White Noble Alloy

All alloys are manufactured in the U.S.A. IdentAlloy Certificate sticker is provided for all restorations in which Noble and High Noble alloys are used. There may be a very slight variation in percentage of alloy composition depending on manufacturer change. Prep Requirements:
  • Feather-edge margin preparations are indicated for full cast restorations. However, any margin preparations may be used.

Implants

We offer pre-fabricated abutments and CAD/CAM custom implant abutments. These abutments combined with crown and bridge restorations from our lab will allow your patients to receive the very best. A number of options are available, including traditional PFM, BruxZir® Solid Zirconia, IPS e.max® and Zirconia with porcelain overlay. Pre-Fabricated abutments are further customized to correct variations in angle, depth, and rotation in the placement of an implant. Custom Implant Abutments are precisely milled using CAD/CAM technology to facilitate a natural-looking emergence and optimize soft-tissue contours and crown esthetics. This precise interface also ensures comfortable delivery of the final restoration and excellent gingival health. Custom implant abutments are available in Titanium and Zirconia with Titanium Base and some Zirconia Base to fit your patients' individual needs. Some of Major Implant Manufacture Companies we closely work with:

  • Astra (Dentsply)- Biomet 3i (Encode)
  • Noble Biocare - Hoissen - Dentsply
  • Zimmer- Neoss
  • Straumann - Dentsply
  • BioHorizons - Camlog
Benefits of Implants:
  • Integrity of adjacent teeth is upheld
  • They feel more like natural teeth
  • A normal bite is experienced
  • Prevent additional bone loss
  • Delivers strength of natural teeth
Impression Requirements:
  • Use manufacture’s tool to remove healing cap and to place transfer coping. Ensure components are fully engaged before tightening screw. Take an X-Ray to verify proper seating of components. Also ensure transfer coping does not hit the tray. Use heavy body vinyl polysilioxane impression material and record impression. Based on whether the impression is taken as a close tray or open tray methods, follow the manufacture guidelines for removing the impression. Place back the healing cap.

Miscellaneous Services

Porcelain Labial Margins: Porcelain margins (ceramic margins) are a popular technique to improve esthetics in the margin area. If the gingiva recedes, use of porcelain margin will eliminate the display of (if any) chalky or metallic appearance at the gingival margin of the restoration. Shoulder margin preparation is required. Right-angled /shoulder prep should be carried facially of the tooth to ensure good porcelain esthetics well into the proximal embrasure area. Crown Adaptation to Existing Partial: When a tooth abutting a partial denture requires crowning, the dentist traditionally picks up the prosthesis in a full-arch transfer impression. This allows our technicians to use the clasps as guides when creating the crown contour. Diagnostic Wax Up: When cosmetic dentistry is planned, it is often important to do a diagnostic wax-up to help determine the eventual appearance and result after treatment is performed. Impressions are made of the upper and lower arches, and stone models are poured and fabricated. Modifications may be made to the models similar to expected preparation of the actual teeth and then tooth colored wax is placed on the involved stone teeth to create the desired result and determine the necessary steps to achieve it. This allows both the dentist and the patient to evaluate the anticipated final appearance and to determine if it meets their expectations. Other Services: Captek, Future R.P.D. Rest: Mesial, Distal, Cingulum, Metal Stop/Island, Metal Occlusal, Metal Lingual
